In the late 70's / early 80's there was a fire at Elstree studios and I was involved in the structural steelwork renewal. A new film studio had been built with the profits from Star Wars 1 and at the time I was there they were filming SW2.

One day during the school holidays I was on site with my 10 y.o. daughter (in those days nobody bothered about this sort of learning experience) and I was told that if I wished I could take her on to the set and have a look around while they shooting the “swamp scene” where Luke had crashed (by contrast visits to sound studios were absolutely forbidden).

We went in by a small personnel door at the rear of the building and were wandering around in the forest when we were approached by Mark H (to be honest I hadn't a clue who he was but D did!) who was between scenes and spent nearly half an hour talking to my daughter who still dines out on the experience!

On the other hand all I got to do was walk across Sophia Loren's car parking space.
