I'm looking for a Tiger E1 for around £4.5k - £5k.

It needs to be running, MOTd, in good condition and not have any issues/faults with either a Zetec or Duratec engine, 2L or above.

Wet weather gear is optional.

Interested to know if the prices of the cars are going down?
£5,000 to £6,500 seemed to be the going rate for an E1 when I was looking 8 years ago.
I paid £5,200 and was very happy with what I got.
I still am
(2.1 Pinto E1)

There is one on eBay at the moment, 2L zetec starting at £4500.
I can't remember the location, i think it was just off the M5.

Hi Mike,

A good spot and I had seen that on eBay. Pretty much exactly what I'm after....just not in that colour!

Realistically, your budget of £4,500 is really around the Pinto "in need of work" range.

If you could get that car at £4,500, that's a bargain and, to be honest, that's very cheap for a Zetec engined car.

With the extra £500, you could always spray it (DIY) or wrap it.  With a bit more, you could have the fibreglass parts professionally sprayed or replace the bodywork.

Picked mine up at the start of the month for £4250. It needs some work to the fuel system, coolant hoses, brakes, etc. and is only a 1.6 pinto, but regardless it feels like a bargain. Came with 8 months MOT and no advisories too [thumb]
