Hi all

I’ve got the rear tub off my tiger for a quick refresh. I’ve discovered the rear brake line is fitted with a Sierra deceleration unit. Does anyone know if these things are reliable after 13+ years or should I be looking at fitting a brake bias valve screw?
I hope I’ve got all the terminology correct as not been involved in this stuff before although I now know it’s to stop the rear drums locking up before the front discs.
Thanks in advance

Actually thinking about it, that unit could well be 30+ years old from the donor Sierra.

Hi, I did remove mine and fitted a Wilwood Proportioning Valve, which made it nice to be able to set the rear brakes.

I’m in Onibury which is closer still... If you see someone waving frantically at you and the tiger that’ll be me! :)

Never fitted it to mine, no chance the drums will lock before the discs

Resurrecting this thread...

I've got a modified Sierra pedal unit and master cylinder, Wilwood 4 pots on the front, Sierra drums on the rear.

Wondering if it's possible to get through IVA running this setup without a proportioning valve to the rear? I'm planning to add an adjustable proportioning valve at a later stage for track days.

I'm assuming the guys who say the rears have never locked without a valve (either fixed Sierra or adjustable aftermarket) are running a direct brake line from the master cylinder and haven't had any problems at MOTs? And are the MOT braking standards the same as IVA?

Cheers
