Hi again folks,

Sorry to keep pestering!!!

Has anyone got any recommendations for any mechanics who know their way around 2.0 Pinto's and Weber 40DCOE's in the North West area?

The carbs on our Tiger Super Six are spitting a bit more than I'd like - and it seems to be more on the front carb (so much that it's leaving a trail down the nicely polished bodywork side panels :-( ). So think they're out of balance. And I want to do away with the paper filter and put stainless mesh in their place, so may need re-jetting slightly to make sure they don't lean out too much.

We also want the cambelt changing, because there's no mention of it being done in the reams of history we got with the car. But, it has a Kent Cam vernier pulley, and (reportedly) the matching super-dooper cam. Having driven it, and having driven many low-down stripped-out vehicles over the years, I do not doubt that this 2.0 Pinto is putting out the 148bhp that the previous owner claims was put out on the rolling road.

My go-to mechanic is "proper" old-school, but doesn't have the carb setup gear anymore, And he doesn't really want to do the cambelt because he doesn't have a rolling road to re-time up and fine-tune the vernier to take into account the new belt. And given that my family and I have used the same fella for many, many years with all kinds of vehicles and he's never once done a bad job - if he says it needs a specialist, it does.

Anyone got any suggestions for who I can entrust this job to in the North-West area?? (We're in Wigan).

Cheers!

I don't have any suggestions for a tuner but I would say that you should stick with the paper filters as they are less restrictive than the stainless wire "grills". Just give the filters a clean and reoil.
