If you use the 'Search' tab (using insurance as your keyword) you'll find numerous opinions. I currently use A-Plan (Thatcham) and would certainly recommend you getting a quote.

I would, however, suggest you establish what you've got. Is it a Cat or an Avon?

Michael.

Sorry Geof but the E1 is the Cat - not Avon. I'm sure you can see the confusion. What's it say on the V5? Has it inboard (Cat) or outboard (Avon) front coilovers? 'Parcel shelf' behind seats (Cat)?

Michael.

Ah...... that explains matters! Hopefully you've now got some pointers to identify it. Don't hesitate to shout if you need further help (as long as it's a Cat, I know s*d all about Avons).

Incidentally, whereabouts in West Mids are you?

Michael.

another vote for A-Plan, but as has been said, only the Thatcham branch deals with kits - ask for Carlie.
IF you've never insured a kit car - you have the option of requesting a gauranteed insurance value, some owners do, some don't. Typically there isn't an extra charge - you just have to provide photos of the car and be realistc in your request; they will assess whether thevalue is fair based on those photos and their market knowledge.
the benefit is knowing that if the worst happens you'll get '£x' without having to haggle....

similarly, you can insure for a fixed mileage...ie/ 300/5000....doing that tends to soften the actual premium. Finally, A-Plan have a decent breakdown policy, might not be relevant, but for me works well as its full UK/EU cover plus repatriation and think its about £50...

I have used Backford Bloor, for years and they are reasonably priced, Q plate or age related I doubt it makes a difference to the specialist insurers.

I've used Frank Pickles Insurance for the last three or four years, very helpful on the phone and always been very competitively priced.
I think they are based in Otley, West Yorkshire if my memory serves me right.
