Hi all,

Having removed the sump from my C20XE and finding a home made sump I have a couple of questions.

1) Do I need this baffle plate in as most the welds have cracked and the plate rattles.

2) If removed do i have another one welded in place?

Thanks

Hi Sambo,

If you are planning on doing any kind of fast road or track driving having some form of baffles in the sump is important to stop oil surge and starving the engine of oil with the damage it will cause.

I guess the best place to look for a engineered sump will be SBD who are a specialist in tuned Vauxhall engines.

Its important to remember that a good sump will save you destorying a engine but is sometimes overlooked.

Hi gazza,

Thanks for the reply. In haste I removed the existing plate in my sump and glued it back to the engine. I will remove again and have it professionally welded.

Thanks Sam

Hi, as said above a good sump will save your engine. If you can afford it I would look at fitting an SBD or QED Motorsport sump.
