I'm making my first forray into competitive motorsport!  I've booked onto an auto solo competition in late July.

Anyone done this before?  Any tips?

Seen a few videos of sevens cars competing in this format and they all seem to be set up with very soft front ends and stiff(ish) rears.

Hi, not sure on set up, I've to watch a mate of mine how does the Auto Tests.
I think it will depend on the car itself - power, weight, tyres and driving style. Best to just give it a go and see how the car feels. They are useally a friendly bunch and very helpful at the meets and will give you loads of advice.
Have a blast 👍

I joined Farnborough District Motor Club and this is one of their autosolos: https://fdmc.org.uk/summersolo20?fbclid=IwAR2uKRPK6AaWVBc7zpDjOn_AFsFs0ccOU06BVRXD2mR_qK8R1WxfHzIbayU

19th July is the date.  i've just abandoned a rear stud upgrade I was doing to borrow some different wheels as the R888s I'm running are prohibited.  Just bought some Proxes TR1s which should arrive tomorrow.  I think I'll do a service on the car before the event and then there are a few bits and pieces of pit furniture (a folding chair and a big brolly.... just in case).

No visitors because of COVID but I should get some onboard footage of the drive... I have very low expectations!!

Sounds like a good plan mate, much less hassle for now. I’ve got Proxy TR1’s on mine.

Don’t worry about expectations Tim, just have a blast and enjoy yourself - you can get serious later 🤣
